Come visit Burlington, the Green Mountain State’s largest city. Whether you like the city or the country, with a population of about 40,000 people, there is something for everyone. Shoppers, art lovers, fine diners, outdoor lovers, history buffs, and night-lifers alike will enjoy something in the queen city.

One of the hot spots is the Church Street Market Place. WhatsCheaper.com recommends starting your sightseeing tour of Burlington here. It is a quaint street, blocked off from traffic, containing a vast variety of over a hundred stores and restaurants. Special events are held just about monthly. Check out their calendar of events to see what is happening during your stay.  There is fun for everyone year round.

Another great place in beautiful Burlington is the water front. WhatsCheaper.com knows that there is so much to do, and so many activities. The science-minded or young at heart will enjoy the ECHO Science Center. There are many exhibits and activities for people of all ages. It is a very family oriented place. But ECHO is only one of the many places to visit on the water front.

Water lovers can take a cruise on Lake Champlain. Don’t forget to look for the elusive lake monster, Champ. The Spirit of Ethan Allen III is one of the cruise companies. They offer day and evening cruises. They also offer wedding, theme, and informational cruises. History buffs can also learn some of the great history of Lake Champlain.

Like the water, but not a boat lover? How about biking? Walk or bike along the 12 mile bike path.  Many spots have great views of the lake. Stop by the Burlington Earth Clock. See if you can tell the time from the sun and the rocks. There is a plaque explaining the clock near by.

Other fun spots along the bike path include beaches and Battery Park. At Battery Park, tourists will find monuments honoring both white man and Native Americans. Bikers and walkers can take a picnic lunch and admire the views.

WhatsCheaper.com also recommends history buffs stop to see the Ethan Allen Homestead located off the beltline in Burlington. Walk the surrounding trails and see the house where the historic leader of the Green Mountain Boys lived the last two years of his life. To learn more, visitors can also get a tour and visit the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum.

Burlington also offers something for lovers of the arts. Check out the Royal Tyler Theatre or Flynn Theatre for entertainment. They both offer a variety of plays, shows, and entertainment.
