While you’re near the Ciudad Vieja, suggests a stop at the Museo Historico Nacional to take a glimpse into Uruguay’s past.  Divided into four completely different houses of historical significance, you will find artwork paintings in the first one, which is known as The Museo Romantic.  Venture next into the former house of their first president, known as The Casa Rivera.  At the Casa Garibaldi, stop into the 1800’s home of a famous navy commander.  The final one, the Casa Lavalleja once housed Juan Lavalleja, a brilliant military general from the 1700’s.  Stop next at the national art museum in Uruguay known as Museo Municipal de Bellas Artes.  View the work of differing forms of artistry such as oil paintings, sculptures and more from artists across the country, with broad ranges from the past, leading into the present.
